I'm still here!!

Believe it or not, I am still here!!

I realize that it has been so long since I've posted that most of you either: don't remember who I am and why you follow me or no longer care.

But I am going to try to revive this blog!!

I'm pretty busy right now, but my life is getting really exciting and I want to be able to share it with all of you!

Here are some of the things that I am looking forward to in 2013 that you will get to hear all about:

1. Student teaching (already off to a start)

2. Graduating from UNC :(

3. Finally heading to India!! (for good or at least for longer!)

4. K getting married!

I suppose I could start calling her by her full name since she lives in the good ol' US of A again, but its more fun to call her "K."

Anyway, 2013 is going to be a big year for me (I realize that we are already solidly into 2013 and it is now February, but humor me). I really do intend on being more active on this blog. I have been lazy, uninspired and just downright lazy about blogging on here, but I do want to get back into the habit of it.

God has big things in store for me this year and I hope that you will join me on the journey!

Exciting announcement!!

I'm sure all of you already know this because I've been bursting at the seems with excitement this whole week!! But I have some very exciting news...

Drumroll please.....

I'm going back to India!!!! (I know, not exactly a shocker)

I'm so very excited, this summer, I get to go back to India and spend a month serving the family that runs the orphanage. While I'm there, a large team will be coming, so my duties will be a lot of behind the scenes, support work. I will be doing everything from laundry to cooking in order for R to be able to devote her attention and time to the ministry and the team. I will also be doing some things directly for the ministry as they need. Mainly, I will just be available and willing to do anything and everything that they could possibly ask.

But that's not all!!!

Before traveling to India, I will be making a stop in Central Asia to see my K!!!! Again, so excited!! I've been wanting to go see her life and work in CA for so long now! Every time I've gone to India, she's told me to come see her and I think that if I went to India one more time without visiting her, she would stop being my sister. It will be so good to see where she lives, what she does, and meet some of the people that I've heard so many stories and seen so many pictures of.

I'm going to have the most exciting summer!! I can't wait! I'm so thankful that everything is working out so far. I've been praying since pretty much the fall that I would be able to go spend a longer period of time in India. My time there may not be as busy and action packed as when I've gone on teams, but that is what I'm most excited about. I will be there just living life with the family. I am getting the opportunity to experience for one month, what my life will one day be like.

I would ask that all of you be praying for me as I prepare for all of this excitement! Be praying that details will work out, there will be a lot of flights to figure out and more logistics than I can think about!! Also, just be praying for me. This will be a long time away from home and I'm so excited about it, but I know that 6 weeks overseas is going to feel like a very long time. And finally, please be praying that I will be able to get the funds together.

Speaking of funds...

I've decided that from now until I leave, pretty much all of my money made from babysitting will be going towards my trip. So, I need a lot of babysitting jobs. I feel strongly that I want to make a personal sacrifice in order to go on this trip. So I will be tightening my budget, saving and working extra hard to earn money in order to go.

That said, if you or anyone you know, or whoever, ever needs a babysitter, please give them my name!! They can reach me best by e-mail, so feel free to hand it out!! My e-mail is lsdroege@gmail.com.

Thank you so much for your support and prayers!! I can't wait to share with all of you about my time both there and preparing. It's going to be amazing!!

Christmas Tree pics

Monday 12-27-10

Because of the weather, K's flights were all messed up and we got an extra day with her. We played around with my camera a little bit, trying to get a picture in front of the tree with the lights looking big and blurry. We sort of got it to work, but not entirely. If anyone has any suggestions as to how to make this work, I'd love to hear haha.

This is my favorite shot of K, even though the lights a little weird on her face.

And here is where the lights are doing what we were going for the best. If only she had been looking at me...

It was so awesome having K here for so long and for Christmas. I love you and miss you already!!

Christmas Shopping

Wednesday 12-15-10

My exam schedule had a big break in it, so I went home for a day and did some Christmas shopping with K. (Not the best way to keep yourself motivated for studying haha). I always forget to take pictures while we're actually out, so here's the bags of stuff. Of course I can't show you what's inside of them...

K's home!!! K's home!!!!!

Monday 11-1-10

And now, my blog will get a lot more interesting (I hope). I'm very excited to have my sister home for a little while and get to spend some time with her and go to the Krispy Kreme.

PS- one bonus of having a sister who lives in CA- lots and lots of scarves, and I have more than what's there. Out of all of those scarves, 1 is from India, 1 is from here, and all the rest are presents haha.

8 days left!!

My sister will be back!!!!!

That's right starting November 3rd (or possibly the 4th, depending when she actually gets in), an Everyday Tar Heel will become an Everyday Tar Heel and her sister!!!

We're already planning all the guest appearances she will be making- pictures at the Old Well, the Krispy Kreme, Sakura, and so on and so on.

If you can't tell, I'm SOOOOO excited!!!!
