What I did last week

My week started pretty typically:

I took this precious girl out for her 7th birthday.

We went to Frankie's and she wanted to do the ropes course and let me tell you, this girl is FEARLESS! All the teenagers were super impressed by the 7 year old who was going on the highest ropes. And she made fun of her adult babysitter for being terrified of heights. She thought it was just awesome that I was scared and she wasn't.

Then we went to get frozen yogurt and (because its me) found our way to barnes and noble to read some books. It seems these girls and I have started a sort of book club- trading books back and forth each Sunday.

Which leads me to a funny story. While driving, A says to me when the topic of me being an adult some how came up- "but you're not really an adult, you're still kind of a kid. Like you like to read kids books and do kid stuff, so you're still kind of a kid."

And you know what, sweet girl, I am totally ok with it.

Also, at B&N we came across this beautiful collection of books:

(That's Percy Jackson and Harry Potter all on the same table)

Sweet A ran up to the table and proclaimed: "Look! It's all your favorite books!" That's right and I'm proud of it! (I might start doing book reviews, in which case you will hear about my recent love of Percy Jackson.)

Then my weekend took a slightly uncharacteristic turn and I found myself doing this:

I ended up at a shooting range with a few friends. This was the first time I ever even held a gun and, as you can imagine, there was some giggling and squealing when we made our first shots (and several rounds after that...)

All in all, it was super fun. My friend and I call ourselves disney princesses because of a personality test we once took. Well I've never seen a disney princess who could do this:

(don't be too impressed, we were pretty close up)

The shooting range was fun, but I don't think it converted me into a gun-wielder (although I would like to go back some day haha).

Also- on an unrelated note, I've decided to completely embrace my nerd side and have entered the wonderful world of Doctor Who. It's British TV (and everything that that implies) at its finest and I love every second! (and it makes scanning so much more interesting!!)

Kids that keep life interesting

I love children, obviously, and I am so thankful for the kids that I have been able to be a part of their lives.

These girls keep life interesting all the time. I never know what R will say in class on Sundays.

Here are some pictures of R and K after I got back this summer.

R really liked this pretty, sparkly outfit from Central Asia, until she realized that it was long sleeved, then not so much. Granted it was August at the time, maybe now she would like it a bit better.

I showed K how to put on the sari that her dad had bought them in India a few years ago. K went on her first overseas trip a few weeks ago. Love seeing how she is already developing a heart for the world and seeing people know Jesus.

I don't have a picture of A from this day and I just switched laptops, so I'm still working on getting all my pictures sorted and everything, but I love that girl. She says the craziest things and always makes us laugh.

I'm so blessed to get to be a part of these sweet girls lives. Love them so much!

Carolina Girls!!

Saturday 4-2-11

Best in the world!!

Celebrated K's 8th birthday at her Carolina birthday party! Love this little Tar Heel!! and little RL, who was in normal clothes for about 10 minutes before changing into this ensemble.

One of K's birthday presents was a cool bug catcher, which we played with after for a little bit after her friends left.

Happy Birthday, K (G)!!!!

Thursday 3-31-11

This little girl turned 8 yesterday!!

I am so thankful to be able to be a part of this sweet girl's life! It is so awesome to watch her grow up and learn.

Chick-fil-A

Thursday 3-24-11

Took the Greear girls to Chick-fil-A so that Veronica could have time to talk with someone (actually talking is difficult with 4 little ones trying to talk over you). We had a really fun time! In case you haven't noticed, I love these girls a lot!

G babies photo shoot

Thursday 3-3-11

While babysitting for the Greear family, I took some pictures of the kids playing/posing.

Somehow, K wound up pushing the other ones around in a laundry basket... I don't know how this started, but RL enjoyed it...

Little A... not so much. Its blurry, but I loved his "Laura get me out of here!!!" face. Real cute. I could eat this kid up!!

RL was getting tired of me taking her picture haha.

Big A's typical picture face haha.

And I just loved this one of RL. Too sweet!!

Happy birthday, Greear babies!!

Saturday 2-5-11

I spent Saturday morning celebrating the two youngest Greear children's birthdays. Here some of my favorite pictures.

RL very intently licking the icing off of Dora's head.

Not entirely sure what's going on and why everyone is finding it so funny that he's covered in icing.... normally playing with food is frowned upon and yet, his mom is telling him to stick his face in the cake... dad even demonstrated...

RL modeling the Dora sunglasses that I got for her, although the bumblegum was the preferred gift I think

How the glasses were worn for the rest of the party. Too cute!!

A trying to figure out his new toy, I think that dad and sisters are going to get more fun out of it for a while.

Love these kids so much!! Thanks for inviting me and letting me love your kids, Veronica!

Cute Little Princess

Thursday 1-27-11

Recently, I've been spending a lot of time with the Greear family, Veronica specifically, which has been absolutely fantastic! It's great to be able to spend time with her and learn from her.

It also means that I get to see her children a lot, which is definitely a bonus.

This princess and I hung out last Thursday.

For those of you that don't know, princess dresses also make great nightgowns for naptime. RL had to change into this little get-up specifically for her nap. Granted, she did take off the princess heels before getting in bed.

The Lion King is more fun with a 7 yr old!

Wednesday 1-5-11

My parents get season tickets to the shows at the DPAC, but since they have already seen the Lion King, they gave their tickets to me and I took KG. It was really fun to see her enjoying it, especially the Circle of Life, when all the animals come through the audience.

This is her lion roar face.

Bubbles

Saturday 9-18-10

Someone has recently learned how to blow bubbles. I got to spend the afternoon with my favorite girls again. So fun! A tried to blow bubbles too, but ended up mainly just spitting haha. She'll learn soon.
